Data Entry Keyboards

EMC, RFI and ESD screening for keyboards, PCB's, sub-assemblies and enclosures is now available from keyboard specialist Rowland Automation.

The screening involves Electroshield, an in house developed metal-foil laminate. This die-cut material can be customised in its flat form for keyboard applications, or fabricated for other work. Typical substrates include copper and aluminium foils.

Adhesive backings and insulation areas can be selected to suit requirements.

Ground and solder tabs and conductive adhesive points can all be incorporated

Rowland Automation has developed bespoke design and manufacturing techniques for rugged data-entry keyboards, to help ensure operational integrity under extreme conditions, often at lower cost than off-the-shelf products.

High quality front-end keyboards are built to suit specific needs in tough environments.

The service provides an alternative to traditional supply routes, helping to provide maximum performance at minimum expense.

The keyboards can be interfaced to any electrical or electronic requirement. Domed keycap technology is used for lower volumes, as opposed to a rubber mat under the keys.

The keyboards offer a long operational lifetime and can be stand-alone, or integrated into the customers' front panels. They also feature optional anti tamper switching.

Brass, stainless steel, or aluminium is offered for keycaps and panels. Turned keycaps are also used, as they are more cost effective than traditional cast square caps.

Typical applications are in exterior public-domain areas such as door-entry, data-entry telephones, or wherever operator damage might occur through accidental or wilful damage.
